GoutPlate

Terms of Service

Last updated: October 2026

These Terms are an agreement between you and GoutPlate, a small independently run website. By using the site — browsing food data, subscribing to emails, or paying for a meal-plan subscription — you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

GoutPlate is not medical advice. The site presents food-composition data and meal-planning tools. It does not diagnose, treat, or prescribe, and it is not a substitute for your own physician, rheumatologist, or dietitian. See the full disclaimer.

What GoutPlate provides

  • Free tools — a searchable database of purine, fructose, alcohol, and calorie values compiled from public USDA and NIH sources, free to use without an account.
  • Paid subscription — the meal-plan generator: 7-day plans built around your exclusions, household size, and preferences, saved to your account, with a merged grocery list.

Accounts

  • You need an account to generate and save meal plans; accounts are for individuals, are not transferable, and are not offered to anyone under 16.
  • Give accurate information, and keep your password to yourself — activity under your account is your responsibility. Tell us promptly if you believe it has been compromised.
  • You can delete your account at any time; see the Privacy Policy for what deletion means for your data.

Subscriptions, billing, and renewals

  • The subscription is $79 per year or $10 per month, in US dollars, billed through Creem. Applicable taxes are handled by Creem as Merchant of Record.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the billing portal linked in your account — no email required, no retention maze.
  • After cancelling, you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. When it expires, your account returns to the free tier and your saved meal plans are kept.
  • If a renewal payment fails, access to paid features may pause until it is settled. If we ever change prices, we will give notice before your next renewal and you can cancel first.

Refunds

If something went wrong with a payment — you were charged by mistake, or the service did not work for you — contact us and we will sort it out, including a refund where it is due. Payments are processed by Creem, so refunds are issued through Creem, and nothing in these Terms limits any refund right you have under the mandatory law of your country of residence.

Acceptable use

Use GoutPlate for yourself, as a normal visitor. In particular, do not:

  • scrape, bulk-download, or systematically extract the database or site content, or use automated tools that burden the service;
  • resell, republish, or redistribute the compiled data or the meal plans as a product of your own;
  • attempt to bypass the subscription gate, probe or disrupt the service, or access other users’ accounts;
  • use the site in a way that is unlawful, or that presents the data as medical advice to others.

The underlying USDA and NIH source data is public; the compilation, site, and software are ours. Free access is a licence for personal, non-commercial use.

Your meal plans

The plans and grocery lists generated for you are yours to use, print, and cook from. We store them so the service can show them back to you, and we handle them as described in the Privacy Policy.

Data accuracy and availability

The food data is compiled with care from the sources cited on each page, and missing values are shown as missing rather than estimated. Even so, laboratory values vary between studies and samples, and the site is provided “as is” without warranties of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. We aim for the service to be available and reliable, but we do not promise uninterrupted access.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GoutPlate is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions made in reliance on the data or meal plans. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, or your mandatory rights as a consumer in your country of residence.

Ending this agreement

You can stop using the site and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access for accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these Terms — for example, scraping or payment fraud. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will contact you first and allow time to put things right.

Changes to these Terms

As the service evolves, these Terms will be updated — the date at the top will change, and material changes will be announced on the site before they take effect. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at the operator’s principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence gives you additional rights or a local forum, nothing in these Terms takes that away.
